Description

Centurion Companies recently completed the ground-up construction of a 112,000 square foot self-storage facility in Mahwah, NJ. Originally designed for The Lock Up Self Storage, the project underwent a mid-construction transition when a third-party operating agreement was reached with Public Storage. This shift required Centurion to modify the building’s branding, including colors and signage, to align with the Public Storage brand.

The facility, a four-story structure built on a 10×10 steel grid system, presented unique challenges. The site had irregularly shaped corners, which required innovative design solutions to maximize rentable square footage without compromising structural integrity. Additionally, the project faced environmental challenges, particularly with water runoff. Centurion addressed these by incorporating porous asphalt and permeable paving surfaces into the driveways and parking areas, reducing the building’s non-permeable footprint to meet strict environmental regulations.

Centurion’s ability to adapt to complex building codes, overcome site challenges, and meet environmental requirements underscores why we are one of the leading self-storage builders in the Mid-Atlantic region. Our expertise ensures that even the most challenging projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.
